"Eyes of Odin" – Story of the Art Piece
In the myths of the Norse, Odin—the Allfather—sent forth two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, each dawn to fly across the world. Huginn, whose name means Thought, and Muninn, meaning Memory, circled the realms gathering wisdom, secrets, and stories. Each evening, they returned to perch on Odin’s shoulders, whispering all they had seen and heard.
“Eyes of Odin” captures this divine surveillance in sculptural form. Perched with intention on a geometric walnut mosaic, the ravens are brought to life through intricate 3D printing, carefully hand-painted to mimic aged iron and shadowed feathers. Each raven clutches a branch—one fluid, the other twisted—representing their distinct natures: the ever-changing nature of thought, and the tangled roots of memory.
The backer is a labor of precision, a chevron pattern of rich walnut tones laid with meticulous care. Its rhythmic geometry suggests the cycles of thought and remembrance. Surrounding the piece, a bold zebrawood frame calls attention to the piece’s significance, its striking grain a nod to the wildness of the natural world these ravens watch over.
More than decor, “Eyes of Odin” is a portal into story and symbolism. It asks: What are your thoughts gathering? What memories do you carry home?
